Gut Check (day 8 of 15)

That means I should have had 13 workouts in...5 sick days. No more. No more.

Plyometrics

Here's to half-assing it...

PLUS, I got a feeling that this hockey season is going to be a good, good season:

Gut Check - Day 2

Plyometrics

Videotaping and exercise (intense exercise) can cause your mind to race.  I told you I was going to mind dump...this should be informative.  You might have to watch it twice, because my mind was racing.  Too much to think about - exercise, the next exercise, how to teach others that these exercises will make them faster and stronger skaters, and whether or not someone will actually take the chance to join our [Referee Camp] and really, really make a difference in their life...too much for my brain!  Enjoy:

Day 79 - Fat Guys and DQ

When you work out, do you have a particular thing you fixate on to motivate yourself?

When I was in high school, I was an All-Conference Guard on our football team.  Yep, I played guard.  Used to be a running back, but wanted more action on the line, so I demanded that I be put there.  Anyway, during the off-season training in our weight room in East Grand Forks (usually with some type of AC/DC music playing ...hehehe), I pushed myself hard by imaging all the "fat ass-es" I would be guarding on the line.  I imagined them being at the Dairy Queen rather than at the weight room.  When I pushed up the weights, I imagined pushing their fat ass all over the field.

When I was in college, and I was training hard to be the best referee, I imagined some guy in Alaska working hard and that I had to work harder than them.  I imagined working the Frozen Four tournament in St. Louis, MO or imagined working an IIHF tournament in Montreal.

Today = Plyos X

I imagined all the lazy, thumbsucking refs I saw this past weekend in Blaine (about 50% of them were worthless - or should I say, not worthy of the games they were working), and I pushed through my workout imagining out-performing them on the ice.

What do you think about? (Hopefully not that these workouts suck and can I get through as quick as possible).

Day 58 - P90X - It Seems to Be Everywhere!

1. Planning
2. Preparation
3. Planning

This week I have 4 days to get in 6 workouts....

Doing the (2) cardio killers today:

Plyos X

Can you believe that I get through this workout without thinking the Good Lord is punishing me for my sins???

That's what continually bringing it does.

Now off to workout #2:

Kenpo X

{see you in 50 minutes - and I ain't changing shirts :)

OK...now I think I'm being punished.

THIS IS WHY THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE MENTAL SIDE, and for you Referees, HOW-TO ELEVATE YOUR GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL...

I tried to quit three times. I actually shut the DVD player off twice, walked out of the room, and was going to say, "One P90 workout today is enough." I knew my accountability...I knew I had to answer as to why I couldn't meet my goals, and I pushed play again.

I'm dead...but, YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!

Day 42 - P90X - 2-a-Days!

Here in MN it is the first day of football practice...I remember those August days. Seemed like whenever the 2-a-days started the Hot, Muggy Weather started...ugghh!

Workout 1: Plyos X

Performance update...with two alternatives thrown in there, I did the entire workout following the group. Awesome...that's confidence inspiring. I've come a long way, baby....

Workout 2: Chest, Shoulders, Tris (no Ab Ripper)

Ever done a workout like this with an exercise band?!? You'll feel that one two days later. Bring It!

Day 37 and 38 - P90X - Dog and Stallion

Tuesday - Day 37
(I "dogged" it)

I did not workout at all. Work consumed me (I still have skating videos to get out there).

Wednesday - Day 38
(I pushed like the "Italian Stallion")

DOUBLE UP DAY!!!

I traded some text messages with Adam Shadiow last night about Plyos X. He stated that his goal was to get all the way through Rock Star Hops without quitting.

He reported this (which is PHENOMENAL!):

"Powered through the second round of jump squats...Hit pause to sit down and thought I was going to die. 30 seconds later I was ready to go. This video is the ultimate in teaching the body to recover quickly 30 seconds on 15 off."

This a.m. I powered through all workouts and then skipped the BONUS round.

It was the most challenging mental test I have gone through in all of my P90X training. And, boy, was it worth it!!!

I thought I was going to die, too, but I feel great now (that tired-feel-great feeling).

This 12 Week Transformation is MUCH, MUCH more about mental benefits than physical.

MUCH, MUCH more!

Day 29 - P90X

Plyos

I am proud that I kept up with the program half way through the DVD!!!!

There was a point where I felt nauseated and like I was going to pass out. PUSH THROUGH!

Hot dang I feel good now!

Paid SWAT Teamers!...look for BONUS VIDEO shot during the workout!!

(OK...gotta go to the park with my kids)

Day 8 - P90X

Plyometrics

This is the first time I have done this workout where I was totally in the zone. I can honestly say that I was 96% compliant with all exercises.

The first times I did this workout, I was lucky if I was 50% compliant. Those bastards on the video ticked me off (if you've done this workout, you know what I am talking about :)

** Do you want a low impact way to do plyos that will help your "First-Step Speed"?...let me know**

ONE OF MY FAVORITE TRAINING SCENES IN ANY MOVIE (I like the song, too!)

Day 3 - P90X

I did the Plyos today. Really BONKED on some of them.

Ever hear me say, "Practice makes Permanent, not Perfect"?

I was permanently dieing and sloppy as ever on some of the moves. No Bonus round for me today (I rarely do those...bust my chops if I should).

Overall, I was a sloppy mess, but I was "BRINGING IT!"

P.S. Fired up for the meeting at my house tonight! There's a whole new level of referees who are absolutely gonna rock the scene here in Minnesota!
