- The warm up in this video is something you SHOULD do to warm up for a junior, college, or pro game
- I will continue to rave on about P90X and how specific it is to hockey referees...BUT...
- I am going to do a "book report" on Lance Armstrong and do more 'teachable moments'

Day 87 - P90X - Workout 2
Kenpo X
Good DNA removal. Pushed myself hard, because it is the last Kenpo workout of the 90 days.
Hope this helps:
BTW, I put the visor on backwards to get into my "Chuck Norris" persona...looking at the video, I may look more like this guy (HAHAHAHA):

Day 67 - P90X - 2-a-Day
First workout = Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps
Why can I kill the push ups in the Chest and Back workout and this workout brings me to my knees?? Seriously.... I am so gassed that doing 5-6 push ups from my knees is tough. However, I did manage some decent (that number being 4 total) one-handed push ups!
(she looks a LOT better than me!)

I love the muscle build using the resistance bands. Yeah, baby!

Work out #2: Kenpo X:
Bonk-City...I tried something new. I did the workout in the same hightop basketball shoes I do the muscle building workouts in...too heavy. I thought, "Yeah, I will get a little extra weight resistance when I do all of my kicks!" I'm going back to barefoot.
I will be more focused next time. I also need to do the cardio workouts first and then do the muscle build ones second, if I am doing a 2-a-day workout.
2 down...22 to go for this Round of P90X!

Day 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 - Gone Fishing
I will be at our family cabin for the Labor Day Weekend. No internet, no phones (text messaging only)...just me and God's country.
I vouch to do (2) workouts over this 5 day span = Kenpo X and Legs and Back
Have a great weekend!!

Day 58 - P90X - It Seems to Be Everywhere!
1. Planning
2. Preparation
3. Planning
This week I have 4 days to get in 6 workouts....
Doing the (2) cardio killers today:
Plyos X
Can you believe that I get through this workout without thinking the Good Lord is punishing me for my sins???
That's what continually bringing it does.
Now off to workout #2:
Kenpo X
{see you in 50 minutes - and I ain't changing shirts :)
OK...now I think I'm being punished.
THIS IS WHY THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE MENTAL SIDE, and for you Referees, HOW-TO ELEVATE YOUR GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL...
I tried to quit three times. I actually shut the DVD player off twice, walked out of the room, and was going to say, "One P90 workout today is enough." I knew my accountability...I knew I had to answer as to why I couldn't meet my goals, and I pushed play again.
I'm dead...but, YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!

Day 44 - P90X - Kenpo
Kenpo X
There are two drives that are associated with the forward and backward skate:
1. The "push" drive, where you do the full extension (we'll call that the Power Drive).
2. The "recover" drive, where you recover the leg back to it's starting position, in order to get the LONGEST stride possible (we'll call this the RPM Drive, because it's what allows you to turn your LONG stride over and over again as fast as possible and as efficient as possible).
We are used to doing exercises in our lifetime where we are pushing - squats, running, jumping, skipping, plyos, etc. We are pushing our muscles against a resistance point, like the ice, the court, the pavement.
We are not used to driving our muscles against no resistance = OOPS in the skating world.
That equals short strides...
That equals "railroading"...
That equals poor turnover of our stride = slow = inefficient.
Kenpo X has you doing Martial Arts moves where you are firing your leg muscles against...nothing. Thin air. Kicking an imaginary person in the balls.
If you avoid doing these exercises, your skating stride will have low, inefficient RPMs. And that would equal an "OOPS"

Day 24 - P90X
Kenpo X
DNA removal, indeed!
When I first began P90X, I was an absolute FOOL! when I did things like Kenpo X...all over the place!...absolutely NO coordination...definitely NO speed.
This is extreme, boys and girls. The more people I introduce to this, the better. Skating involves 9 different physical fitness elements:
1. speed
2. power
3. agility
4. coordination
5. cardiorespiratory stamina
6. accuracy
7. quickness
8. endurance
You'd better be ready to Bring It! And if you are BONKING (aka no energy, which is different from being a pussy), you'd better check this out: You Need More Glutathione
Whey protein...vitamins...Omega 3's...sure, they're all great. You need something with some BALLS.
Ballsy Quote of the Day:
"Out of Sight =
Out of Mind =
Out of Work"
(my take = out of sight, out of mind...no playoffs for you!)

Day 19 - P90X Workout 1
Kenpo X
Last week I attempted to do a "two-a-day" with Legs and Back, followed by Kenpo...didn't work too well.
Today, I am doing Kenpo first and Legs and Back second.
If you are a hockey guy, and want more speed and more power, do Kenpo (for more speed - do Plyos X, too!) and do the Legs and Back workout (you'll power up your legs like nothing else...I guarantee it!).
God Bless the USA, and God Bless Hockey!
(p.s. Just read the Tim Tebow article in Sports Illustrated...that guy's impressive!)

Day 11 - P90X
Kenpo X
Ab Ripper X
First-step speed - explosiveness - quickness - agility
There are Sooooo many good things about this workout that will help you on the hockey rink. I look at this workout as the "Perfect the Golden Triangle" or "Perfect the Golden Rectangle" workouts...
Ever see a high level official (an NHL guy) who is very light on their feet, quick, always avoiding pucks and getting in the best sight lines??? They are VERY, VERY good at the Golden Triangle and Golden Rectangle areas.
Ab Ripper -- when you first start this you are going to think this workout is a JOKE -- A CRUEL, CRUEL JOKE.
Stick with it...it will come. Trust me. I was completely lost and nowhere near the 339 moves when I started. Stick with it.

Day 5 - P90X = Number 2 = NOPE!
I am too fagged out (that's a term my father-in-law uses, which I find rather strange).
I busted it this a.m. with the Legs and Back routine.
I am too worn out. I started the workout, but quit 10 minutes into it.
Moral of the Story = commit to your exercises every day...saying you'll make them up in the future is usually a pointless gesture. You never make them up (well, sometimes on occasion). It's lost opportunity.
Moral of the Story 2 = If you miss a day...forgive yourself and move on. Get right back on the wagon the next day. The big mistake most people make is they'll miss a day and then write the whole week off! Next thing you know it turns into a month! I missed a day this week...it is now written off.
There...accountability out there for all of you to see. No excuses.
